Animal, emotions. Repeat.

I decided to go more in depth with my project on showing emotions through the photographs I've been taking of my crazy cat. He's way cute (even if he does break expensive Phoenix lens.) Anyways, with this project, I was stalking my cat around the house while he played with my dad's little remote control car (luckily, he didn't break that as well.) I got some pretty awesome shots!













My attempt at light drawing, and then I realized I was holding the light the wrong way:





And to sum up the photo blog for this week, I took two pictures of the sunset:

I had a lot of fun with this project, and I plan on doing more photos with my cat as the days go on.

Absent #1 : A-Z

A-Z




My inspiration this week was from a link I’m pretty sure Mr. Twitchell posted in one of his blog posts on his website. http://digital-photography-school.com/7-photography-projects-to-jumpstart-your-creativity

I will probably be doing some more projects recommended within that website as the weeks are to come. I for now am going to be thinking of a Richard Avedon shot and who I can manage to think of that will show true emotion for it.

Anyways, I went through and put A-Z in order, with minor photoshop work. Note that the M is a picture of a painting, because there was nothing else floating around my house, and it was beautiful.

Write up and Phone Camera!

For the first part of my blog I'm going to do the write up on the only video I was there to watch this week.

Tuesday's Video:

The guy who shot for national geographic: Although I think this would be a very interesting and brilliant job to have and be honored with, I'm not sure it's something I would ever take on. I love the concepts of being able to photograph whatever, where ever. However, if I wanted a family, children, animals, any sort of actual life out side of photography, this job would be really hard for me. Watching this video I honestly felt horrible for that guys family, they had to give up so much so of their love for that man just so he could go take photos for the job that supplies them with food on the table. I mean, taking photos is great, but if it gets to the point where it consumes your whole life... maybe it's time to start looking at something else. I remember him saying, "I would love to take pictures at home, I would take pictures in my back yard if that's where the pictures were." That line really got me. It's true, but I'm sure if he was doing something else, like working for the newspaper or a local magazine, there would be photos in his "back yard." I suppose it all depends on preference.


Now for my second part of my project, you all know my camera lens was broken by my cat (who I don't blame, by the way). My new lens should be here shortly, but for now I'm trying to get creative with taking pictures.

With trying to think of something I could do this week, I remember way back a blog that Twitchell had posted on www.cdaphoto.edublogs.org, so I went searching for it.

Now that there isn't anything that I really want to relate directly with this, except that if you always have your cell phone, and not your actual camera, why not take a picture with your phone camera?

None of these photos are great, at all, to say the least.

It was an experiment, and a blog filler.










Now, I didn't use photoshop on any of these pictures because working with photoshop and little camera files doesn't mix well. Also, generally if you're taking a picture on your phone you can "edit it" before you MSS it to one of your friends or anything of the effect.

I'm not too proud with the little effort that I put into this project, but judging by the fact that I feel like poop, I'm going to give myself a self break.

And try really hard next week.

Animals and best friends

Along with just trying to figure out some more skills with my camera this week, I took some pictures of my animals at my house.

Although Tim Flach goes more into complexity with wild animals and horses I decided that I would take a little bit of my inspiration from him, trying to convey a little bit of emotion of the animals within the concepts of my photography.










Also, I took some pictures of my best friend Haleigh, trying to be aware of the portrait tips I got from this website:

It’s become very important to me to try and capture an emotion or something important with a photograph. The way that Haleigh is being herself in both photographs is sort of the way I enjoy them. She’s being a complete nerd, and that’s the way it should be.


Now with this last photo I was honestly just playing around with my camera. Taking some sunset photos for my dad I just thought I should shove onto my blog to clutter it up even more, there’s never too much… but there can be too little.



Aside from the fact that my camera lens is now broken, and I'm looking into buying a new one, this sums up this weeks blog.

I'm hoping to borrow Haleigh's lens this week so I can mantain some pictures, if not I'll just borrow my mom's point and shoot.
